Energy Efficient Home Design

A green story by Marken Design + Consulting.

Marken Design + Consulting has completed the schematics for ultra energy efficient Single Family Dwelling aiming to qualify for the highest rebate offered under the Energuide Program by the City of Kimberley located in the Kootenay region, British Columbia.

The Passive Design approach is deemed to be the most efficient design process to achieve a 88+ Energuide Rating and Net Zero Ready Energy Standard by dramatically reducing a homes energy consumption first and then, if desired, add PV panels for producing electricity. Using the Passive House Planning Softare PHPP as an integrated tool we are able to achieve this goal most cost efficiently.

Adding to the long list of benefits when constructiing a high performance home, the City of Kimberley is now offering  a % refund of the fees paid to the City based on the Energuide Rating of the building: the higher the rating the higher the rebate. The program is intended to encourage designers/architects, builders and renovators to employ energy efficient techniques.
